Guatemala
The innagural trip to Guatemala took place in 2006, the group traveled with Habitat to Xela, a large city to the Northwest of Guatemala City. The tream took buses every morning to the outskirts of the city to construct housing for 3 very deserving families.
While in Guatemala, Give Back Beyond also partners with Cooperative for Education, an amazing Cincinnati Charity who is eliminating poverty through education. They affect massive change through sustainable programs to provide schoolbooks and educational materials to rural Guatemalan schools.
In 2009, the group returned to construct more houses and further explore the Gutemalan culture and community. Future trips to Guatemala are planned for the Spring of 2011 and 2013.
After a week of hard but fulifilling construction, the R&R portion of the trip can include anything from touring volcanos, to shopping at open air markets, or exploring Central America's oldest colonial capital, Antigua.
